The Three Ships Bourbon Cask Whisky is an exceptionally smooth South African blend. It achieves its rich flavour through maturation in American oak bourbon casks. The James Sedgwick Distillery produces this whisky. They adhere to the same strict regulations as Scotch producers. However, South Africa’s warm climate accelerates the maturation process. This distinctive environment gives the whisky its renowned smoothness.

This bourbon cask expression is globally recognized. It consistently wins major international awards.

  • World’s Best Blended Whisky: The 2025 World Whiskies Awards bestowed this highest honour.
  • Category Winner: It won this title at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards.
  • Gold Medal: The 2025 Michelangelo competition awarded it a Gold.
  • 94 Points: IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) gave this high score.

The whisky offers a rich, golden hue. The nose is expressive with notes of vanilla, dried apricot, and hazelnut. You will find milk chocolate and smoked pineapple aromas. The palate brings upfront sweetness from vanilla and caramel sauce. Subtle white pepper, nuts, and cinnamon provide excellent balance. Ripe fruits and marmalade notes also drift through the palate. It finishes with a luscious, lingering sweet and spicy smoothness.

The warm South African conditions accelerate the whisky’s maturity. They craft this bourbon cask whisky from the finest local grain and malt components. Enjoy this whisky neat, on the rocks, or with a dash of water.
