Whole bunches undergo pressing into old 500L barrels for fermentation. The wine rests on thick lees for ten months. This Tembela Chenin Blanc combines 20% Darling fruit from a 1993 bush vineyard with 80% from two Stellenbosch sites. It displays a rich, bright colour. Inviting aromas of flowers, lemongrass, and fresh herbs lead the nose.
Subtle notes of blossom and stone fruit sit above a faint chalky character. The palate feels full and smooth without any heavy weight. Ripe, sun-warmed fruit meets a touch of creaminess and a slight saltiness. A silky texture defines the mouthfeel. Background oak adds depth and roundness. The clean finish lingers with candied lemon and orange zest. This Tembela Chenin Blanc feels both generous and restrained.
