Swerwer Chenin Blanc is a highly-rated example of minimal intervention winemaking. This 750ml bottle captures the true character of the Paardeberg in the Swartland. Winemaker Jasper Wickens focuses on showcasing the vineyard’s pure quality. The grapes are sourced from approximately 40-year-old dry-land bushvines. The resulting wine is a textured, terroir-driven expression of South Africa’s most important white grape.

  • High Ratings: Vintages consistently receive 92-94 Points from top critics (e.g., 93 Points from Winemag).
  • Old Vine Fruit: Made from low-yielding, dry-farmed vineyards on granite soils.
  • Complex Flavor: Offers inviting notes of white stone fruit, peach, green apple, herbal notes, and flinty minerality.
  • Natural Fermentation: It is naturally fermented with wild yeast in old French oak barrels.
  • Swartland Icon: Reflects the region’s focus on traditional, low-intervention practices.

Swerwer Chenin Blanc is bottled without fining and with only light filtration. It possesses a tight, focussed palate and a pleasant savoury touch. A soft texture is achieved by aging for 10 months on its gross lees. The zesty acidity ensures wonderful freshness and longevity.
