Savage Red 2024 – Premium Stellenbosch Syrah

Discover Savage Red 2024, an extraordinary 100% Syrah crafted by renowned winemaker Duncan Savage. Sourced from Kuils River and Polkadraai in Stellenbosch, these vines grow in poor, decomposed granite soils overlooking False Bay. Maritime sea breezes cool the low-yield vineyards, creating ideal conditions for classically styled South African Syrah.

Winemakers ferment the whole-bunch fruit using natural yeasts in conical foudre and open-top fermenters. Basket pressing follows two to three weeks of skin contact. The wine then ages for 13 months in old 500L barrels, followed by 10 additional months in foudre. This patient maturation process builds remarkable structure, elegance, and pure varietal focus.

On the nose it opens with expressive notes of plums, lavender, cola, violets, and distinct white pepper spice. Granitic soil tannins give the taut, focused palate exceptional drive and persistent length. Enjoy this bottle upon release or cellar it to reward your patience over the next 10–15 years.
