The Mullineux Iron Syrah 2024 exemplifies premium Swartland red wine from organically farmed Kasteelsig bush vines in iron-rich Koffieklip soil. This single-terroir allocation yields a rich, broad red wine with dark fruit concentration, gravely tannins, and remarkable aging potential.

Vineyard & Terroir

  • Origin: Kasteelsig Vineyard, Swartland (100% Syrah).

  • Soil Type: Deep, iron-rich Koffieklip and red ferricrete soils.

  • Farming: Dry-land organic bush vines.

Vinification & Maturation

  • Harvest: Pickers hand-harvested grapes during cool February mornings in 2024.

  • Fermentation: Winemakers foot-crushed whole-bunch grapes in 500L open-top French oak fermenters with natural indigenous yeasts.

  • Maceration: Skin contact lasted 28 days to extract refined gravely tannins.

  • Maturation: The wine matured 12 months in 500L French oak barrels (50% new) and nine months in 2000L foudres.

Cellaring & Serving Decant this Syrah when enjoying young or age it for 15 to 25 years.
