This spirit matures in a mix of first-fill bourbon and refill ex-bourbon casks. The casks allow the peat and malt flavours to integrate perfectly. The nose delivers a beautiful balance. You notice sweet malt, sea salt, and firm peat smoke. Hints of vanilla and wood spice emerge.
The palate is rich and oily. It features notes of toffee, candied citrus, and sweet wood smoke. The peat flavour remains firm but never dominates. A gentle black pepper spiciness defines the finish. The maritime influence balances the smoke beautifully. Macaloney’s Peated Braiche is bottled at 46% ABV. It uses natural colour. It is also non-chill filtered.
