This is the highly anticipated maiden vintage of Lourens Family Mathias Chenin Blanc 2024. The wine is named after Franco Lourens’ newborn son, Mathias. This spectacular 100% Chenin Blanc comes from a single, low-yielding Paardeberg vineyard. The old bush vines were planted in 1981 on decomposed granite soils. This Swartland vineyard site yields wines with incredible focus and energy.
The nose offers complex aromatics of lime, lemon, and green apple. You will find peach, subtle herbs, and a hint of ginger on the palate. The wine is super-concentrated and boasts punchy, mouth-watering acidity. The Lourens Family Mathias Chenin Blanc 2024 delivers a long, savoury finish with a slightly pithy texture. It has great focus and plenty of hidden power. This riveting, pure wine showcases impressive line and length.
