The wine pours a deep, glistening ruby into the glass. You will discover a compelling nose of red and black cherry, rose petals, and violets. Subtle herbal notes and a touch of spice complement these floral aromas. On the palate, the wine feels dramatic and super-concentrated. It offers a crystalline purity of fruit balanced by a racy acidity. Extremely fine, powdery tannins provide a grippy yet harmonious structure. The finish is remarkably long, leaving a signature trail of chalky minerality and forest floor.
Nico Grobler sources these grapes from a high-density single vineyard. This site features 10,000 vines per hectare, a practice common in Burgundy but rare in South Africa. The 2025 blend consists of 65% PN113 and 35% PN115 clones. The fruit matured for nine months in 228-litre “untoasted” barrels custom-made in Burgundy. These barrels preserve the delicate fruit while adding a subtle, savory depth.
