Discover the intriguing Fledge & Co Jikken Barrels Tinta Barocca 750ml, a superb South African expression of this hardy Portuguese grape. Crafted in the Western Cape by the innovative duo at Fledge & Co, this red wine offers a uniquely aromatic and intense profile. The name “Jikken Barrels” translates to “Experimental Barrels.” This reflects the winemakers’ commitment to bold, quality-driven exploration. This dry red wine has an ABV of 14% vol.

  • Nose: Expect alluring aromas of ripe plum, mulberries, and bright spices, complemented by floral and earthy hints.
  • Palate: Juicy raspberry jam and hedgerow fruits dominate the palate. A tell-tale undercurrent of cocoa powder and salty liquorice adds depth. Grippy, soft tannins provide excellent structure.
  • Finish: A moreish, savoury finish with that distinctive twang of liquorice lingers nicely.

Fledge & Co Jikken Barrels Tinta Barocca wine is a harmonious blend of richness and finesse. Winemakers ferment the hand-harvested grapes in traditional open-top cement fermenters. They use manual punch-downs to gently coax optimum flavour from the skins. The wine is then aged for several months in seasoned large-format French oak barrels.
