Discover the intense De Kleine Wijn Koop Debutant Semillon 750ml. This remarkable white wine comes from the Franschhoek Valley. Winemaker Wynand Grobler produces small quantities of this high-quality Semillon. The vines grow in decomposed sandstone and granite soils. This unique terroir gives the wine its pronounced mineral character and great complexity. De Kleine Wijn Koop focuses on minimal intervention winemaking. The wine offers fantastic aging potential, evolving beautifully over decades.

  • The 2023 Vintage received praise for its fruit, white florals, and beeswax characteristics.
  • The 2021 Vintage was described as “Flat-out world class dry white wine” by one US merchant.
  • Critics compare its profile to Australia’s greatest Hunter Valley Semillons.
  • The wine has a cellaring potential of 2 to 5 years, often longer.

Winemakers hand-pick the 100% Semillon grapes. A small percentage of the grapes undergo skin fermentation. This method builds texture and depth. The wine then ages for three months in old small French oak barrels. Winemakers blend this with the non-skin contact component before bottling. This careful process balances freshness with richness. The nose offers lovely notes of white florals, beeswax, and lime zest. The palate is richly textured and substantial. It finishes with excellent freshness and great length.
