Discover the remarkably vibrant Damascene Ceres Plateau Syrah 2024. This is the most lifted and light-stepping wine in the Damascene Syrah collection. The high-altitude vineyard sits over 1000m above sea level in the Witzenberg mountain range. The 2024 vintage saw a cold, wet winter. Subsequent warm nights and cool days allowed for slow, even ripening. This combination resulted in a superb balance of natural acidity. The fruit was hand-picked between February 29th and March 11th. The vintage shows great clarity.
The nose is articulate and precise. It reveals blood orange pith, white pepper, and a clear lift of lavender. The palate feels dynamic and finely drawn. Sour cherry, raspberry sherbet, and blood orange meet sweeter blackberry fruit. A distinct river-stone texture runs through the wine. High-toned acidity and finer tannins give this Syrah an elegantly tailored profile. Winemaking involved a gentler touch, utilizing submerged-cap fermentation to soften the structure.
Thw Damascene Ceres Plateau Syrah 2024 has been recognized for its extreme quality. Christian Eedes of Winemag.co.za awarded the 2024 Ceres Plateau Syrah an exceptional 95/100. This wine offers precision and will continue to mature for at least a decade.
