This vintage is a complex, layered, and balanced expression of cool-climate Chardonnay. Capensis means “from the Cape” in Latin. This wine boldly showcases the region’s greatness. This Chardonnay is a pure expression of its mineral-rich terroir.
The Capensis Chardonnay 2021 is one of South Africa’s most highly-rated whites ever. Leading critic Tim Atkin MW awarded it a remarkable 98 points. The Wine Advocate also scored this exceptional vintage 95 points. It is a world-class wine combining power with Burgundian-inspired finesse.
The wine displays notes of white flowers, tangerine zest, and mountain scrub. These aromas are wrapped around a core of ripe yellow stone fruits. The palate is rich yet taut, showing impressive tension. Oyster shell minerality and fine acidity lead to a lime-toned, saline finish.
This powerfully structured Chardonnay is crafted to age gracefully. It pairs beautifully with rich seafood or dishes with a cream sauce.
