Discover Ardbeg An Oa, a singularly rounded expression from the legendary Islay distillery. This Single Malt Scotch is the first addition to Ardbeg’s core range in a decade. It is named after the Mull of Oa, a peninsula that shelters the distillery from the wild Atlantic elements. This protection results in a more mellow and approachable dram.
Ardbeg An Oa achieves its smooth complexity through a unique maturation process. Whiskies from three distinct cask types are combined. These include sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry, spicy charred virgin oak, and intense ex-bourbon barrels. They are then married together in a bespoke Gathering Vat.
The nose is subtly smoky, featuring creamy toffee, aniseed, and treacle. You will find a curious suggestion of juicy fruits like peach and banana. The palate delivers a smooth, creamy texture. It unfolds into flavours of milk chocolate, treacle toffee, and signature Ardbeg peat. A long, sweet finish follows, with notes of mint toffee and gentle malty biscuit. This peated whisky beautifully balances smoke with delectable sweetness. It is bottled non-chill filtered at 46.6% ABV. This makes it an ideal introduction to the world of Islay Scotch.
