The Paper Kite 2024 is a tribute to old-vine South African Semillon, a grape that once formed the backbone of the country’s wine industry. While now a smaller presence, incredible old Semillon vineyards still exist, and they’re fortunate to work with some of them.
This wine is crafted from a 61-year-old vineyard in the Swartland, featuring a mix of Semillon Blanc and a touch of Semillon Gris. These ancient clones produce a unique expression of Semillon, vastly different from modern, aromatic styles. The result is a hauntingly beautiful wine that takes time to fully reveal its complex aromatic profile.
