A captivating and classic Syrah from a single vineyard in Stellenbosch. Sourced from the Langverwagt farm, a site with decomposed granite soils and views of both Table Bay and False Bay, this wine is a true expression of its maritime-influenced terroir.
The grapes were meticulously whole-bunch sorted and fermented spontaneously in conical foudre and open-top fermenters. After pressing, the wine was aged for 13 months in old 500L barrels, followed by an additional 10 months in foudre. This long, gentle maturation process has resulted in a wine with remarkable elegance and structure.
On the nose, it offers a complex and inviting bouquet of plums, lavender, cola, and violets, with the distinct white pepper note characteristic of this vineyard. The palate is taut and focused, with a mineral-driven intensity and fine, granitic tannins that provide a long and memorable finish. This is a wine built for the cellar, promising to evolve beautifully for the next 10 to 15 years.
