Experience a true piece of South African winemaking history with our Leeu Passant Basson Cinsault 2023. Crafted from the oldest registered red wine vineyard in South Africa, planted in Wellington in 1900, these dry-farmed bush vines yield exceptional fruit.
Hand-harvested in February 2023, the grapes underwent a natural, cool fermentation with 100% crushed whole-clusters, preserving its beautiful fruit profile. The wine was then matured for 20 months in 500L French oak barrels, with only 1,620 bottles produced.
Expect a deep perfume of fresh dark raspberry, thyme, and red cherry on the nose. The palate reveals complex layers of pomegranate with very fine, silky tannins, showcasing its unique sense of place. This confident, old-vine Cinsault promises to age sumptuously, rewarding cellaring for years to come.
