This beautifully poised Chardonnay opens with citrus and blossom, evolving into delightful white peach, pear, and green apple, with a subtle hint of maritime salinity. It’s vibrant and fresh on the palate, offering lovely texture and a delicate, lingering finish.
Hand-picked grapes were whole bunch pressed and wild fermented in older French oak barrels, remaining on lees for 11 months to build complexity. A touch of malolactic fermentation (10%) adds richness, before natural fining and stabilization prior to bottling.
Named after Badbea, a Scottish village where the Gunn Clan found refuge, the wine honors the resilience of Andrew Gunn’s ancestors. He established these vineyards high above the Atlantic in South Africa’s Cape South Coast.
