The vineyards for this 100% Syrah are situtated in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch. The vines are grown in mostly decomposed granite with a mix of some iron rich duricrust soils. This wine has been rated by both the Platter wine guide and Tim Atkins as Wine of the year
This wine offers a delightful blend of spicy notes and perfumed aromatics. Sixty percent of the wine undergoes whole bunch fermentation and is aged in cement, imparting unique characteristics. Meanwhile, the remaining portion is de-stemmed and aged in new 400-liter French oak barrels, adding depth and complexity to the final blend.
Only 4000 bottles were produced.
