Nestled in the scenic Stellenbosch ward, between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, Post House winery boasts panoramic views from its ridge-top location, a farm bought in 1981 and systematically planted to vineyards suited to the terroir. Starting with experimental barrels in 1996 and its first vintage after a Burgundy stint, the winery, named for the farm’s history as a post office serving the Raithby missionary community, now encompasses 38 of its 71 hectares with varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc, benefiting from cool False Bay breezes. Post House’s philosophy centers on minimal intervention, traditional methods like natural fermentation and basket pressing, and leveraging the leaner soils initially deemed marginal to cultivate balanced vines and intensely colored, high-quality wines that reflect their unique terroir.
